"English practicum to improve English speaking in practical and interactive conversation"

In Zusammenarbeit mit der WKOÖ - Sparte Transport und Verkehr und der ARGE creativ & kommunikativ bieten wir während der 10 Wochen Berufsschullehrgang in Braunau in Zusammenarbeit mit der Berufsschule ein "English practicum to improve English speaking in practical and interactive conversation" an.

Frau Maria Bangs.Studium an der University of Colorado State, Studienabschluss in „social work“ und „English“, hat zusammen mit BOL Dipl. Päd. Friederike Aschl einen Kursplan erarbeitet.
Umgesetzt wird das Konzept von Miss Amber Jepson, B.A. (University of Minnesota).
Der Lehrgang ergänzt den Englischunterricht der Berufsschule um Konversation in der Kleingruppe (max. 8 TeilnehmerInnen).

10 x 2 Einheiten in Kleingruppe (max. 8 Personen) am Abend
Kosten pro Teilnehmer: 75,00 €

Curriculum:

Course Objective: To improve English speaking in practical and interactive conversation by taking conceptual knowledge and transferring it to experiential learning.

• Week 1: Introductions: Basic conversation about oneself and one’s company
• Week 2: Phone Etiquette: Taking a phone call, making a phone call, proper etiquette when placing/ taking order
• Week 3: Colleagues: Conversation about the people with whom you work, and building vocabulary concerning colleagues, employers, customers, etc.
• Week 4: Giving Directions: Practice giving and taking locative directions, as well as following and receiving directions concerning specific incoming and outgoing orders. 
• Week 5: Abbreviations: Explain abbreviations, weight measurements, and specific Forwarding Agency vocabulary in English.
• Week 6: Packing: Explain how things are packed and shipped in English and the advantages and disadvantages of certain modes of packing.
• Week 7: Labels: Explain a shipping label and the differences in Austrian and British addresses.
• Week 8: Making a Reservation: Placing a reservation at a hotel, a restaurant, ordering tickets to the theatre, reading a menu, ordering food. Making a complaint about the above.
• Week 9: Angry Customers: Dealing with unsatisfied customers on the phone. Proper etiquette and niceties in handling unhappy customers.
• Week 10: Presentations: Five minute presentations about the company, what the company does, who they work with, and the specific tasks of each job. This presentation should be fluid and void of pauses or breaks in thought.
